Get to the Bottom of Digestive Wellness with Renew Life Probiotics #RenewLifeProbiotics #Sponsored

Having lived and persevered with Crohn's, a chronic auto immune disease {affects the gastrointestinal system} for almost 17 years, I'm the furthest from shy when it comes to chatting about my "yucky" gut, you have to have a sense of humor when you've had week long hospital stays, NG tubes that run through your nose to your stomach and 4ft. of intestines resected to help you alleviate painful symptoms - but apparently having the conversation is not the norm. Shockingly, nearly 2 in 3 {64%} of women are not willing to talk about gut issues with their friends because it seems so taboo. Ellie Krieger, RDN, the rock star culinary nutritionist, who is the host of “Ellie's Real Good Food” show, author of several cookbooks, and a columnist for The Washington Post hosted a private lunch to talk about ways that the gut impacts overall health and wellness.

Never fun being sick.. time to pick myself up and get on with life

I must apologize for being MIA for the last few days. I haven't had the chance to mention that I've had to battle with the auto immune disease "Crohns" for about 11 years( in remission for first 8). Basically Crohns is painful inflammation of any part of your digestive tract and there's a list of various other inconvenient symptoms. I spent the day in ER after trying to cure myself at home for a few days.  I've been struggling with finding a more holistic approach to dealing with my Crohns and the doctors I've met thus far just want to pump me full of drugs. I was prescribed 120+ pills a week a combination of pentasa, steroids and other things but since the birth of Tristan (11 months) I've been meds free. I feel both approaches are a bit extreme and I'm hoping to find a happy medium. Sometimes I feel like all i need is a soft or liquid diet consisting of Dannon Activia Yogurt (so yummy) a warm cup of tea or a bowl of soup to give my intestines a break.

A yoga class at Yoga to the People  in Soho with my girlfriends always helps me feel more relaxed and rejuvenated. When i can't get to class i try to find one of those exercise on demand channels and do it right in my living room.

My dad and hubby are always asking me to slow down because I'm doing to much, which is an even harder task for me to do. Don't you find it so difficult to add RELAX to your list of things to do? How do you take time out of your busy days for yourself? Every now and then it is great to just take time for myself to de-stress in a nice bubble bath and just relax.
