Head to JcPenney to Enter the Count Your Pennies Challenge for a Chance to Win a Samsung Prize Package

We've been working hard and trying to get finished up with all of our Spring cleaning in the house because the hubby and I are hoping to spruce up the apartment. This weekend JcPenney is giving store visitors the chance to win a Samsung Prize Pack of awesome appliances that are the perfect way to revitalize your kitchen space with top-line products. After watching a few episodes on HGTV you can't help but want The kitchen is his favorite room since he does the majority of the cooking and I know he'd be pretty darn happy if we upgraded the space with a few new appliances. We've lived in our current place for nearly 10 years and although our appliances work just fine, it would be great to get some new ones since the ones we have seem so very outdated.

10 Must Haves from Target to Dress Up Your Easter Table #TargetStyle

It never fails, every holiday I'm instantly brought back to memories of my grandma and the many family filled days spent in her apartment on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. For Whatever reason, she rarely ventured out of the house with us but it didn't bother my sister, cousins and I at all because our visits were always filled with love & laughter. We'd all be dressed in our Sunday best outfits (which for me included those uncomfortable white shoes with the annoying buckles), the house would be filled with the aroma of her yummy home-cooking (I'd watch her smack away a hand of a sneaky uncle who'd try to sample a dish) and we'd quickly notice the fun themed details that were perfectly placed throughout every room as we searched for plastic eggs filled with chocolate and money.

Mother Nature's temperamental weather over the last few weeks had me seriously caught off guard by how quickly Easter snuck up on us. Wasn't it just snowing a few days ago? Feeling unprepared  and remembering that I attended a Spring  preview for Target I thought I'd share some table decor inspiration in case you had some last minute shopping and decorating to do before all of the festivities.

I swear my grandmother would have loved going to Target, or sending one of us to shop for her because you can always grab some great finds and deals even at the last minute.

Easter

Easter

1. Retro style dotted textured tumblers // 2. multi-color floral table runner // 3. Egg wreath //
4. Coral serving tray (mint)  5. Turquoise and pink appetizer plates // 6. Happy Easter garland // 7. Easter hanging paper flowers //  8. Bunny cookie jar // 9. Easter swirly straw cups
 10. Egg topiary

This year we'll be heading to the Bronx Zoo for an early afternoon Easter egg hunt and then headed to dinner at my parents place. What do you have planned for this holiday weekend? Whatever it is, I hope you live in the moment and enjoy!

*Disclosure: Media & bloggers in attendance received a gift-card for attending. No other compensation was given and opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

I've been waiting for this three day weekend, since October kicked off. Nothing really special planned, our oldest CJ is going to Debate Camp before his final try-outs for the team {not sure how he got to be so smart, but it wasn't from us}. The little monster and I will probably enjoy some arts and crafts and I'll finish working out the details of his Toy- Story themed 3rd birthday. Kinda just looking forward to wearing my fuzzy robe and traipsing leisurely around the house and catching up on some reading + shows we missed this week.

If you're here in the city I totally suggest you check out the Little Red Lighthouse festival this Saturday or The Open House NY  events which allows visitors access into amazing NYC architecture. These events have both been on my to do list the last two years, but who knows maybe we'll just get out of the house and check'em out. Anything amazing planned for the long weekend where you are? Just in case you find yourself staying indoors.....

Here's a few of my very favorite links from around the web {really hard to limit them this week}

3 NYC events to visit this weekend // Pumpkin Day in McCarren Park // Comic-Con //  Luna Park's Halloween Harvest

You have Some Nerve reading this!

Give your door a design- makeover with a splash of fun, unexpected color.

As it starts getting brisker, bring the fun inside with these creative ideas for indoor play.

Don't let all those freshly picked apples go to waste, make this cocktail.

This pumpkin french toast had me drooling.

The sheer back of this Jenny Jenny Packham wedding dress is stunning.

Let your wedding guests know you were each others missing piece with this puzzle piece guess book.

Comic-Con inspired manicures

Quirky clutches seem to be popping up everywhere.

Have the kiddies dress up in costumes of fashion's most iconic personalities for Halloween or better yet skip the princess outfit and dress your little girl in a real heroines costume.

Whatever your plans this weekend, live in the moments and enjoy!

Happy Weekend! Let's Link Up

Are you as thrilled as I am that it's the weekend? The week seemed to blow by for me but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing because my to do list keeps growing. Tomorrow I'll be assisting on a wedding at Milleridge Inn, in Long Island and Sunday I'm looking forward to a little R&R. The boys are just fine with staying home and doing some of the things they love best like wrestling around on the couch and watching cartoons with dad. I do sort of wish we were going to check out some of the festivals happening, but every now and then staying in pajamas all day is essential. How about you guys? Anything fun happening in your hood? Just in case you also decide to hang at home and unwind.........

Here's a few of my fave finds from around the web:

8 Fall festivals + Fairs in NYC definitely worth checking out // The Chile Pepper Festival //The Brooklyn Flea Record Fair  // Randall's Island Fall Festival // Fiesta! Celebrating Hispanic and Latin cultures // The Sugar Sweets Festival // Read NYC Community Festival // The New Yorker Festival // My dog loves Central Park Fair

Colorful, bohemian and modern all mixed up into one amazing NYC apartment.

If apple picking is on your to do list, you'll need to make this tasty looking baked crumble soon after.

Toasted Marshmallow cupcakes .... need I say more?

A Scandal-ous Saks Fifth Avenue window only a gladiator could love.

7 staples that are essential to every Paris fashion  inspired wardrobe.

Polishes in hues perfect for fall.

Would you pay for your own engagement ring?

The Girl Who Lost Her Name

Usher singing The ABC'S Are Moving You will have you tapping your feet even if you don't have kids.

After seeing this DIY Halloween costume you'll think snails are pretty darn cute.

Thanks for LINKing Up with me, I hope you all live in the moment & enjoy the weekend!

Happy Friday! Let's LINK Up

In my case, when you have summers off I guess everyday is Friday, so for the rest of you it's time to celebrate the arrival of the weekend. Most of my mom friends are thrilled that summer vacation is almost over but I guess since I'm a teacher and it means back to work, I don't share that same sentiment. I'm trying to hold on to every sunny day and summer breeze and some how still squeeze in our first trip to the beach.
Our great debate for the weekend is whether or not to head back downtown to Foley square for free zip-lining {we got there at 10am, and the line was closed}with only two Saturday's left to enjoy Summer Streets. We've also been anticipating this weekend because tomorrow is National S'mores day! We've been dreaming of the marshmallow, chocolatey combo and  I've been scouring yelp for the best place to have them, otherwise we will have to break out the Graham crackers to make our own. I've been told to head to Smorgasburg for a taste from S'more bakery. Do you s'mores lovers out there have any good recipes or know a good place to try them? What do you guys have planned for the weekend?

Here's a few of my favorite links to carry you through the weekend:

5 great NYC events/ places to check out:  Lightness of Being exhibit // Dance Theater of Harlem street festival //  The Hong Kong Dragon Boat festival // Great Jazz on the Great Hill //  Harlem Summer Stage Kids Family Day //

A vintage look at Brooklyn.

Let the countdown to Breaking Bad's premier begin!

Is the Childfree life a more popular choice these days?

Floral jeans that are perfect for Fall's arrival.

Sometimes, It just is what it is.

Grab Kate Middleton's lovely royal style with this collaboration.

Dress up in retro frames and a pair of glasses that the lil' guy can sport.

Start the weekend off right & celebrate National S'mores day!

A few things that will have you feeling peachy keen, add this Tipsy lemonade {spotted on Glitter Guide} to the list.

Bright walls and vibrant colors make for an awesome before & after space.

Add pops of neon on your wedding day with this DIY.

In case you missed it on the blog page // My monsters loved Summer Stage Kids Family Day //

Happy Friday! Let's LINK Up

Today has to be one of the most gorgeous Fridays we've seen a while, sun is out and there's even a breeze and the monsters and I are planning to get outside. This weekend we'd like to check out the whimsical art collection "Lightness of Being" and hopefully hit up Summer Streets with scooters in tow. I'm hoping the lines aren't crazy long because I'd like see the Park Ave. tunnel interactive installation and to try out the zip-lining or rent a pair of roller-blades. We have yet to hit the beach and with July behind us {how did that happen so quickly?}I'm wondering if we will get there before Summer disappears. How are you guys planning to spend this first weekend of August?

Here's a few of my favorite links from around the web:

2 other events worth checking out this weekend: 2nd Annual LIC Block Party  & Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturday's.

Who doesn't love NYC rooftop views?

Couldn't you just see yourself working in here and cooking in here?

Golden Honey Bears and other cute DIY bookends.

They aren't just for rainy days: trendy yet practical Trench coats.

Style-concious mommy's to be everywhere can rejoice now that this retailer is launching a maternity line.

These Bugaboo collaborations almost make me want to have another kid {I said almost!}.

A margarita popsicle ? you need not say anymore!

Yes, the Cronut has gotten quite a bit of hype, but these tasty desserts are probably just as good.

If you really are craving a Cronut, try making one yourself.

Toast it up with A Maple Manhattan or other city inspired signature sips.

They've been friends since age 3 and have recreated an adorable photo taken as kids for their Save the date.

Grab the Kleenex and sing along "You are my sunshine" {coincidentally the Hubby and I sang this to each other all the time when we were dating and sing it to our monsters now}.

Whoa Baby! H&M's Online Shopping is Available in the U.S

If you are anything like me you've probably been questioning for years why there was never a way to shop online for all your favorite, affordable finds for the entire family from the retailer H&M. I for one honestly can't stand bringing my two monsters shopping with me and I'm sure for them the feeling is mutual. I find myself doling out snacks and handing over every gadget I own just to appease them for a few seconds of peace while trying to squeeze into whatever the latest "trendy" pair of jeans are. Although the hubby is the most patient shopper in existence, sometimes he won't even bother to enter the store with me. He'll wander the mall with kids in tow or wait right out front and tell me to just give him a ring when i'm finished. Just recently I found myself running up and down the escalator  in the H&M at Queens Center Mall just so that I could get as close to the entrance as possible without setting off the alarm so I could raise up my selection of blouses for a birthday party. Anxiously I waited for the hubby to give a thumbs up or down so that I could get on the crazy long line before anyone had a meltdown.

I must have been living under a rock up until now because I had no clue that H&M was making their online shop available to us here in the states until this morning. When I checked my Instgram I spotted that the beauty blogger, thestyleandbeautydoctor had posted info on the launch and better yet if you check out her site, there's also a code for free shipping until August 15th. I instantly went online so that I could share with you {below}some of the latest fashion finds available and items to style your place, from their "online-only" Home line that debuted today. As a teacher and assistant wedding coordinator I'm always in need of a few versatile pieces and as we say farewell to July there is the impending, depressing need to go back to school shopping for the kiddies. I say grab your wallet and take a seat in front of your computer and get to shopping! It's raining here in NYC so it's a perfect day for it. What are you planning to put in your cyber space shopping bag?

Items above //  baby girls long sleeve bodysuit  // mens chambray shirt  // girls polkadot jersey leggings          decorative letters    // ladies faux leather skirt  //  baby boys 5 pocket jeans w/ suspenders  // boys peacoat   ladies messenger bag

Ladies shoes & accessories // canvas sneakers // sunglasses // pumps w/ studs // Taupe leather bag

Girls //  Studded sweatshirt // LiveLoveSing jersey top // denim shirt // jacquard- knit dress

Boys //  yellow hooded jacket // turquoise sweatpants // short sleeve shirt

Elated with Etsy: Shop Spotlight on Nirwa Designs

I spotted a very similar chevron DIY project on Refinery29 that will have you channeling your crafty side.

I'm absolutely in love with Nirwa Design and the beautiful handmade pillow covers that will bring a special touch to any corner, when styling your home. If you're a fan of geometric prints, brush strokes, pastels or ombre then you are bound to find a print you like. You can also have a custom illustration created of yourself, a pet or any item {the cat pillow resembles the designer's cat Ned} that would make for a unique gift. I got excited after I popped over to the facebook page and spotted an update that said that linen covers were coming to the shop soon. Stop by the Nirwa Design shop on Etsy and you"ll find a few colorful, fun reasons to grab & cover a bunch of pillows that will have you smiling every time you glance at them.

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

Happy day after the fourth of July! This year the monsters, Hubby and I were joined by my not-so little brother and indulged in all the holiday staples: burgers, hot dogs, deviled eggs, etc's and don't forget Sangria for mommy. You should really watch this video in case you missed the Empire State building's groovin' new lights for the 4th .While most have fled NYC for the long weekend, we"ll be keeping it local but are hoping to enjoy some great outdoor events here in the city. Pining Over Pinterest: Channeling Warmer days with Color

I'm trying to look past the frigid temperatures by reminding myself that the boys and I are officially on Spring break despite still needing to adorn a hat and gloves. It seems like over the past week my eyes have been drawn to vibrant pops of color that make me instantly happy when I look at them.
1. Sprite and gummi bears   // 2. mix & match maids // 3.  Rainbow heart nail tutorial // 4.   Citrus sorbet  // 5.  A colorful tablescape

A stunning bouquet filled with texture and fun colors.

Subtle splashes of Pantone color in the kitchen.

Rainbow angel food cake that's too cute to cut.

I have yet to jump on the washi tape bandwagon but I'm severely jealous of all the fab, DIYs I've seen online.

To eat or not to eat this beautiful salad?

Just a reminder to let the sunshine in!

I freakin' love how much these graphic pillows remind me of sunset strolls on the beach.

I hope these Pinterest faves of mine help take your mind off the cold {unless you already live some wear warm} & brighten your day!

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

Happy  Friday and National Women's day! Let us celebrate women and the journey we've had through history, especially when you think of what our mothers, grandmothers and great- grandmas have persevered through to lay the foundation for where many of us are today. I am fortunate to have amazing supportive female family and friends who guide me through life's obstacles, keep me driven and focused and remind me to take time for myself. What are you guys up to this weekend? I wish we could just float far away from all this snowy NYC weather to somewhere warm. I get to spend some much needed alone time with my 29 mos. old monster Tristan Riley while his big brother spends some qt time with his grandparents. With wedding season in full effect, I'll also be assisting my boss lady and long time friend Fouzia of  My Bridal Budget during meetings with clients & shopping for reception venues. I can't wait to check out Williamsburg restaurant My Moon in Brooklyn, it's really eclectic and has a beautiful outdoor space. The Hubby and I may have to go on a date night excursion{because travelin' from Kew Gardens to Williamsburg is just that} for great food and ambiance!

If you have a moment and need to drift away, here are a few lovely distractions:

How can you not be happy with these oxfords on your feet?

I bet this soup tastes as good as it looks.

The perfect play-area for your tots at the airport {spotted on A Cup of Jo}.

Color your space with Canary & Fuschia.

Say your I do's on the High Line in NYC and take this quiz to see what celebrity you'd most likely marry.

Cherry patterns, polka-dots and that iconic white dress will have you coveting the new Marilyn Monroe inspired line at Macy's.

A 60's mod Photobooth DIY that's vibrant & fun.

What boy didn't drool over Topanga from the T.V show Boy meets world [my husband included}? Well she's got a new spin-off show and looks fabulous!

Undisputed, NYC is the best city to raise kids and yes I am biased!

How to decipher if you are a horrible tweeter. If you have doubts you probably are!

Add splashes of color to your kitchen design.

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

Today officially kicks off Winter vacation for me and my monsters and we can't wait to surrender to lazy days at home which will include watching CJ practice magic tricks, Tristan channeling his inner Hulk by smashing towers he's built and lots of Charlie Brown on Netflix {newly added and we are excited}while canoodling with the Hubby and me attempting to bake. This Saturday we say our farewells to our uncle Dave, and although it hasn't quite sunk in yet and loosing him is unsettling, especially before the holidays we find comfort in knowing that  we as a family will come together to celebrate his vibrant life and everything he's meant to us over the nearly thirty years since he joined our family. CJ said it best "he isn't gone mommy he's right here" as he points to his heart {out of the mouth of babes}.

I always look forward to us LINKing up, here's a few of my fave finds from around the web:

Get festive & add some DIY gold sparkle to your nails & your space with this garland and a shimmery pillow.

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

Oh thank goodness we made it to Friday! I've been battling a horrible cough, possibly strep throat since the Friday after thanksgiving. I sounded so scary in class yesterday that my students kept telling me I should have stayed home... so today is a sick day. I wish that meant someone would be catering to me as I slept in but no such luck. It does mean lots of amazing, honey & lemon soothing tea and a marathon of Pixar movies with my monster Tristan, who after every time I cough asks "You ok mommy? you ok?" with true concern.

It seems we've been at my parents house every weekend for the last month or so, this weekend it's because we are having our floors redone. It's always great to go back to your "childhood home" especially when you're sick because your own mom is there to take care of you, there's someone there who doesn't mind entertaining the kids and you can even get an impromptu nap. For me it also means a family night viewing of the latest episode of the Walking Dead. What do you have in store for the weekend? With black Friday, small business Saturday and cyber Monday behind us have you gotten all your holiday shopping done? If not check back later for the first Holiday Gift Guide post {I've been hard at work on my secret Pinterest Board} here on the blog for some gift giving inspiration.

In the meantime here's a few of my fave links to carry you though the weekend :

An out of the box art installation using crayons.

Three words... Ice Cream Taco... enough said!

Look no further for the perfect holiday gift! An  Etsy Pop-up shop  with fabulous curators, opened up yesterday in Soho!

A gender neutral easy bake oven is beyond overdue.

Trending Now: Collar Necklaces. I've been showing my love for them and Peter Pan Collars on Pinterest.

Small NYC apartments with a big punch of detail.

A super cute mini forest advent calendar.

This ring is on my wishlist.

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

Rain, Rain , Go Away! Another week has come and gone, but I'm looking forward to the weekend. I was supposed to get my hair done {high maintenance short bob} but I'm glad I canceled because I surely would have gotten caught coming home with my freshly done coif, in this thunderstorm {which would've left me highly annoyed}. Instead I'm home with the boys chowing down on burgers and finishing season two of Game of Thrones.

I'm working my second wedding at the Pelham Bay Split Rock Golf Course {a gorgeous venue} this Saturday and seeing an old & close friend of 15 years {and my go to site design/coding guy} and his wife at their NYC baby-shower. Sunday is up in the air, maybe you'll catch us at the Renegade Craft Fair. What's on your agenda this weekend?

Here's a few links I've enjoyed this week on the web:

Creative ways to divide a room.

Could you imagine dating someone for 3 years and never kissing until you wedding day? Read this post from A Cup of Jo. I know I'd have no will power, I've had a crush on my Hubby since elementary school.

Mug DIY  {A Beautiful Mess} I want to try for me and my boys! we are big coffee and chai lovers!

Do-it-yourself wedding favors that Martha Stewart Weddings Mag tweeted a few hours ago, gotta love Pinterest.

Oh man I'd love to have french toast cups for breakfast this weekend.

Keep your pooch cool this summer.

Thanks for LINKing Up with me! I hope you live in the moment and enjoy the weekend.

Elated with Etsy: Yellow & Mint Beach House Finds

While perusing through pinterest, I stumbled on this cute little Swedish cottage and thought that it would also be the perfect color palette for the vacation beach house I have built up in my head. Our NYC apartment has small touches of an ocean-side feel with blue walls, amazing photos of sea creatures {that I cut out of a $2 calendar from Michaels}, glass bowls filled with seashells and neutral & white furniture pieces throughout.

There is so much I'd love to still add to our space but I've sworn I wouldn't do anything else to this place because we've outgrown it and we are hoping to move. In the meantime though, I'll continue fantasizing about the beach oasis of our dreams and hopefully some of these Etsy finds will still be around.

I so need this in our backyard with a view of the ocean, a mimosa in one hand and my nook in another.

Perfect for a nursery or in a hallway.

Kick your feet up and relax!

Lead the way.......

The Hubby and I love the idea of this re-purposed driftwood hanging in a series of three above our bed.

Don't these bright pops of  yellow and subtle splashes of mint make you feel  cheery yet calm all at once? The perfect balance!

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

Happy Friday! How has your week been? Ours has been pretty low key, it actually just went by in a blur. We are trying to just relax a bit this weekend  because things will get a bit hectic at the end of the month {I'm  excited to be working two weddings, one is at Queens County Farm} and the school year is almost over which means I'll be schlepping Chris to tennis practice and track and field and working two part time jobs, while trying to give this blog a bit more love.

I hope you and yours make time for a bit of fun in the sun and here's a few links to enjoy {warning: there are 3 great videos to view} when you have some down time:

 Rain makes sweet music here!

There were definitely a few tear jerking speeches at our wedding which included my sis reminiscing on the wedding scene between Kermie and Miss piggy in our fave childhood movie the Muppets take Manhattan & my dads speech included him and our 3 year old {at the time} CJ singing "You are my sunshine" . Here's a few adorable on screen wedding speeches.

I'm a huge fan of ombre! Loving this dresser DIY and these towers of macarons.

Wouldn't you love to sit poolside with views of the pyramids?

Alicia Keys put up a pic on Instagram from one of  her fave new artists who can tickle the ivory too! Take a listen to Emile Sande.

The Queen looks great in any color she wears!

You'll spot me & the boys at FIGMENT NYC tomorrow where anything creatively imagined is a ferry ride away.

Mojito Ice cream, perfect for summer backyard party or loungin' on the couch.

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

I can't believe the Weekend is here again, time flies when you're sick in bed I guess. My Crohns Flares caught the best of me but I'm feeling tons better now, thanks to the Hubby and our boys taking care of me. The monsters ideas of taking care of mommy were rubbing my tummy {CJ} and blowing raspberries into my belly button {Tristan} to make the ouchies go away. I love them bunches! Anyways What do you have planned for this Mothers day weekend? I'm going to pop by and see my mommy today and bring her something to add to her collection of turtles. Some friends of ours and the Hubby and I decided we were overdue for a movie night {debating Think Like a Man or The Avengers} and one of my besties who's preggers insists that we go to the 24 hour IHOP {can't argue with a pregnant woman} in the city so that's our plan for Saturday. I'm suspecting that my boys will treat me to breakfast in bed, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than in my comfy pj's with a stack of magazines, movies and my boys. Happy Mothers Day to you and/or the special ladies in your life!

A friend shared this video of a mom's version of "Look at me Now" on my FB page, so hilarious. Chasing toddlers, laundry and Starbucks, the story of my life!

I'm an 80's baby so having a boombox at the beach or family picnic just makes sense.
