Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

Happy Friday! I can't believe I'm sick again but it's not that surprising I guess after hearing the weather man say Wednesday night that it was colder here in NYC {17 deg. and felt like single digits} then it was in Antarctica at 34 degrees. Days like these last few remind me of why I never complain about the summer no matter how unbearable the humidity & how I wish we could just fly off to some tropical island to build sand castles and sip on drinks with teeny tiny umbrellas in them. If the snow expected to fall later today sticks it will make for great fun in Central Park tomorrow for the Winter Jam {One of our family fave events}. How are all of you planning to brave the rest of this frigid cold week, any outdoor plans? If you do decide to step out be sure to bundle up, live in the moment and sip on something that"ll keep you warm and toasty.

Here's a few of my fave links from around the web many that inspired me with doses of nostalgia & love :

Take a trip down memory lane with this nostalgic viewfinder and your most recent pics.

Upgrade your childhood memories of grilled cheese with this fancy party.

Loving these engagement photos {especially the one with the shadow & balloons}.

Get in a round of Downtown Abbey Bingo.

Why am I just hearing of Paloma Faith and this song?

A  pretty dang kool photo series entitled "Flying Houses" that reminds me of the Disney Movie "UP".

I've been dreaming of Paris and this kid is making me jealous! Just watch.

Heart shaped ravioli, because if you're like me, feeding me means you love me.

Guess who said it: "For those that say I endanger my child: it's more likely that you will fall while walking on the sidewalk than I will while skating with my daughter {Spotted on a new fave tumblr - Kindlingquarterly}.

Building your own personalized locket sounds fun.

A sweet gesture from a guy who normally isn't into making random sweet gestures.

This is a sweet wedding day photo of the Clinton's and this illustration of our First Couple has had me humming "Let's Stay together" all week.

Feel free to keep up with me on Pinterest and see what's on my new wishlist board.

Thanks for LINKing Up!

Having a Moment: My Dream for my Son on His 8th Birthday

I couldn't think of a better day to celebrate my son CJ's 8th birthday then today January 21st, 2013, a day honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr & the public viewing of President Obama being sworn in. We are tuned in watching NBC and all the Inauguration day coverage before heading out to Barnes & Nobles and Toys R' Us for CJ to run through all his gift-cards and a visit to the grandparents to devour Crumbs cupcakes.

Like any mother I have high hopes and dreams for my son to be strong, respectful, encouraging, supportive, intelligent and loving. CJ is fortunate to have examples of all of those qualities within his father, grandfather and a host of uncles, sadly some young men aren't as fortunate. You would think that after all those years ago when  Dr. King first gave his infamous speech that the ways of the world would have changed greatly. I will say that, yes we have come a long way from the days of slavery but with stories of Sean Bell & Trayvon Martin still unsettling in our hearts, have we really forged a way for more open-mindedness and less judgement towards our fellow man/woman? With words of encouragement all I can to my son is "Rise above it all to be the great man you are destined to be and when you've reached the top remember to pay it forward!" I truly believe it's in the hands of our future generations to be the change we want to see in this world.

Enjoy this historical day and celebrate the LEGACY!

Elated with Etsy: Sweet Valentine's Day Gifts Under $50

With Valentine's day a little less than a month away I thought I'd share with you a few of my fave gift ideas spotted on Etsy that seemed genuinely sweet & thoughtful but not over the top. You can just call us penny-pinchers by February I guess but the Hubby and I have never been big on celebrating the BIG V-day with extravagant gifts. From September to April our wallets are worn out from celebrating birthdays {Our 4 birthdays plus 4 grandparents, my sis & bro and a ton of other people}, Christmas and our dating anniversary. So by this point we are relieved to be halfway though our gift-giving spree and either enjoy a quiet dinner at home or an afternoon out with the monsters. How are you planning to spend your Valentine's day? anything elaborate in store? I think this card sums up how I truly feel about this holiday perfectly.

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

I'm not really sure where exactly winter went and if it ever really arrived seeing as we'll be seeing abnormally high temperatures this weekend, but I would like to still get in one good snowball fight. I got back early this morning after hours in the ER and couldn't imagine staying a minute longer, and not just because I was missing the new episode of Scandal but because it was a madhouse filled with people sporting those blue scary masks, babies spinning around in the aisles and folks hobbling out on crutches. Turns out our 8yr. old monster CJ caught this nasty flu bug too. This weekend will be relatively quiet, finally taking down the Christmas decor and we were planning to enjoy a leisurely day anywhere outdoors with the monsters on Sunday but that's probably not likely if CJ is still under the weather. It's all good though, that just means we can crack open his Disney Headbanz game he got as a Christmas gift from his Auntie Coco. I promise to share pics of how we spent our holiday and how the hubby & I celebrated our 10 yr. anniversary in the East Village. I'm also in the works of officially becoming DellahsJubilation.com and sprucing up the site a bit {hopefully sooner then later}.  I hope you all live in the moment & enjoy the weekend and stay cootie free & healthy.
