A Fashionable Afternoon with Kate Spade: Dressed Up in the Latest Styles for Spring #KateSpadeNY

Spring Fashion

With two active boys I will revel in any girly moment I can get, which these days seem far and in between. When I get the chance I love to curl up on my coach with Spotify playing my fave songs in the background and either my coffee or a glass of white wine nearby while I flip through the fashionable pages of People Style Watch or Glamour Magazine. My magazines and Instagram feed are my sources for keeping up with the latest stylish trends,  seeing as I don't have the time to window shop. One of my faves to follow has always been Kate Spade NY which is a timeless brand with bold, chic yet playful looks and accessories girls of every age will covet.

With that said, I'm sure you'll understand why I was BEYOND excited to get extended an invite along with my fellow NYC lifestyle & mom bloggers for a day of VIP treatment at The Kate Spade store on 789 Madison ave. It was a gorgeous Saturday that finally felt like Spring and we chatted, sipped champagne & enjoyed bite size cupcakes after touring the 4 floors of fabulous finds. I usually avoid stepping into a fitting room like the plague but that afternoon I was on a mission! A few of the ladies were initially hesitant about trying on outfits in fear of getting too attached to their new finds.I knew I wasn't walking out the door until I tried on my favorite two items from the Madison Ave collection and got snapped in a few good pictures. I had always wondered if I could pull off a crop top and shorts because I'm not too keen on showing off my Crohn's disease surgery scars or stretch marks and c-section scar from childbirth. But surprisingly I felt confident and comfortable in the Madison ave 2 piece (that was the perfect length) and the girls all seemed to enjoy posing for the camera.

I must give a special thank you to Kate Spade for having us, Evelyn of IndiaLynRose who coordinated the event, to Jonathan Castellanos our photographer for the day and to Vive Mejor (provided the Dove products), Carmex and Chantilly Dallas for the lovely swag bag goodies.

Honestly this was so much fun and just out of the norm for me, I think I speak for all of us in attendance by saying it was a great way to spend a Saturday. Who doesn't love playing dress up with friends? Which of these fun, fashionable looks and accessories are you loving?

It's a Jungle Out There:120 Ways #NYisWild & 6 Ticket #Giveaway to the Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo

Back in the day my mom would spend the night before packing our lunches & laying out our clothes for a day long adventure at the Bronx Zoo. We'd wake up really early to jump on the Q44 bus for a 90 minute ride from Queens to the Bronx to make sure we were one of the first few families there and would enjoy the entire day exploring until the zoo closed (even if it rained and we had to ask an employee for one of those super sized garbage bags to use as ponchos, lol) and were the last few out.

I have countless childhood memories there and now as a parents, the hubby and I take our two monsters for visits to the WCS parks all year round hoping to create priceless moments for them too as they enjoy educational and fun-filled experiences. This month alone we've visited on Easter and we were just there yesterday for our monthly nature club meeting (through the AZA )where the boys searched for bugs by the Bronx River!

The Bronx Zoo

This summer, the Bronx Zoo will turn NYC into a city-wide social photo safari by inviting consumers to learn about “120 Ways #NYisWild.”  The more people share their in-park photos using the #NYisWild hashtag, the more chances they have to win a trip to Belize, one of the locations where the Wildlife Conservation Society—owner and operator of the Bronx Zoo – does some exciting and relevant conservation work.

The “120” part of this acknowledges and celebrates 120 years of conservation since the founding of this organization, and 100 of the 120 ways take place in WCS parks: Bronx Zoo, the New York Aquarium, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo & Queens Zoo.

·         From April to August participants can capture each attraction using Instagram or Twitter with #NYisWild and also hashtagging the number of the clue (ex: #NYisWild, #84)

John Hancock Insurance Announces a New Approach that Rewards You for Healthy Living #5MoreNow

#5MoreNow

Note: This is a sponsored post and opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Earlier this month, John Hancock Insurance and actor and health enthusiast Chris O' Donnell teamed up to announce how the company plans to recognize consumers healthy steps to physical, emotional and financial wellness by getting their #5morenow .
"Between filming and family, I know how hard it is to juggle everyday life and still fit in time to take care of my physical and financial health ......I try to share positive habits that keep us active now and healthy in the long term." - Chris O' Donnell

Now I hope what I'm about to say doesn't come off sounding conceited but, I get told all the time that I look at least 10 years younger than what I really am. Don't I wish! That's a pretty nice problem to have at this stage in the game I guess. Me being 33 years old people hardly ever believe I have a 10 year old and when they attempt at guessing my age, the answers range between 18 and 25. I remember when I was admitted into the hospital last year, the nurses would joke that I belonged on the pediatric floor, which would have been fine if it meant I was guaranteed more ice cream or red jello.

If you ask me how I feel physically, ha! I don't nearly feel that I have the energy of anyone half my age despite running all over this city with the two monsters in tow. I wish I could say that my young face came from years of drinking water, eating healthy and taking vitamins but that just isn't the case. I'm fortunate enough to just have good genes, and two parents that look really young as well. I remember in high school my girlfriends asking me if the good looking guy next to me was my brother, when in actuality it was my dad {yepp, I was extremely freaked out by that}.

#5MoreNow

During the John Hancock Vitality Village event visitors could sample free juices, enjoy massages and get their workout on. I signed up for an early morning bootcamp session that kicked my butt. I used to run track in high school, took Tae Kwon Do for years and I was so sore the next day and pretty upset that despite my small frame I was so out of shape. It was just the wake-up call I needed.

Consumers were invited to find out their vitality age which is an indicator of their overall health based on their lifestyle behaviors, including physical activity and nutrition habits. The average Americans vitality age is 5 years older than their actual age, I know.....kinda depressing right? But wait, don't get discouraged! Instead of just talking about how we wished we had more time to squeeze in a moment that benefits our wellness, with that new knowledge we just need to step up and set realistic goals to improve our lifestyle choices.  And John Hancock is prepared to encourage and reward those who are up for the challenge!

#5MoreNow

Must Haves for Lil' Monsters: The New Kardashian Kids Line for Summer 2015 Hits Nordstrom #Kardashiankids

Nordstrom

It's been 4 years since we've had a baby-baby in the house, but that doesn't stop us from wandering through the aisles of our favorite retailers while daydreaming of dressing up a third lil' monster {especially if it were a little princess for the hubby} in some of the trendiest childrenswear brands.

Of course the Kardashian sisters are infamous for being trendsetters and with 2 of the 3 sisters being stylish mamas it only makes sense that they have a hip and playful clothing line for kids from ages newborn to preschool. As mom-preneurs who juggle careers and motherhood they can relate to sometimes being too busy to head out to the local mall or boutique to shop. Knowing that convenience is essential, it's genius that they've teamed up with Nordstrom to offer their new Summer 2015 collection for lovers of online shopping! I for one, probably do 75% of our clothes shopping online to avoid long lines and meltdowns from the monsters as we bounce from store to store.

“I’m constantly shopping online because it’s so convenient no matter where I am around the world,” said Kim Kardashian West, mother of North. “I know how important an easy-to-use, stress-free ecommerce platform is to a busy mom trying to multi-task."

We recently got all the deets from a preview of the collection and are excited to share that today, April 13th, 2015 - fans of Kardashian Kids in 96 countries, worldwide will be able to shop the collection online through the Nordstrom website.

What's even more exciting are the new styles for boys, which I imagine had probably been in demand since the line first launched for girls last year. I'm a bit biased as a mama to two boys and remembered looking at the fashionable babies on the Kardashian Kids Instagram feed and wondered where were the cute looks for boys?

The beyond adorable summer line for boys is offered in sizes newborn to 24 months and retail from $23.99 - $29.99. With an assortment of choices, I know you'll love the lightweight denim shirt and tees and I'm sure the comfy, camo print - french terry pants are going to be a must have for both active boys and girls!

Nordstrom

I'll be the first to admit that there are a few pieces from the girls line, that I'd love for myself {ahem, do you see that romper, too cute!}. Styles for little girls include rompers, dresses  and separates in playful geometric prints and beautiful shades of lilac and ballet-slipper pink that range in sizes newborn to 5T & retail from $24.99 - $34.99.

With great detailed pieces like faux leather trim tees and peplum shorts, you'll covet the line {that can also be found at babiesrus.com} because it's perfect for stylish little monsters and functional for everyday.

Stay up to date on all the latest Kardashian Kids happenings on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

10 Must Haves from Target to Dress Up Your Easter Table #TargetStyle

It never fails, every holiday I'm instantly brought back to memories of my grandma and the many family filled days spent in her apartment on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. For Whatever reason, she rarely ventured out of the house with us but it didn't bother my sister, cousins and I at all because our visits were always filled with love & laughter. We'd all be dressed in our Sunday best outfits (which for me included those uncomfortable white shoes with the annoying buckles), the house would be filled with the aroma of her yummy home-cooking (I'd watch her smack away a hand of a sneaky uncle who'd try to sample a dish) and we'd quickly notice the fun themed details that were perfectly placed throughout every room as we searched for plastic eggs filled with chocolate and money.

Mother Nature's temperamental weather over the last few weeks had me seriously caught off guard by how quickly Easter snuck up on us. Wasn't it just snowing a few days ago? Feeling unprepared  and remembering that I attended a Spring  preview for Target I thought I'd share some table decor inspiration in case you had some last minute shopping and decorating to do before all of the festivities.

I swear my grandmother would have loved going to Target, or sending one of us to shop for her because you can always grab some great finds and deals even at the last minute.
