Wilson Family Firsts: New Holiday In The Park Festival at Six Flags Great Adventures #HolidayinthePark

Tis' the season for creating new traditions with the entire family at Six Flags Great Adventures. For the first time ever the theme park debuted it's annual Holiday in the Park, this year - which runs through January 3rd, 2016. We couldn't wait for our day trip in the Mazda 6 to see the millions of glittering lights, dazzling entertaining holiday shows and our favorite Looney Tunes characters to get in the holiday spirit. It was pretty cool to see that this summer destination was transformed into a winter wonderland and I'm sure has been an enjoyable way to spend time with friends and family with the unseasonable warm weather we've been having lately. What better way to spend 70 degree temperatures in December right?

During this visit, since we'd been to Six Flags twice already this year we decided to visit as an escape from the hustle and bustle and just leisurely checked out a few of the 10 new themed areas and enjoyed tasty, seasonal goodies.

Signature Holiday in the Park attractions (included with all season passes and active memberships) include

·         Holiday Magic: A Celebration of the Season ─ Spectacular light show on a 52-foot-tall tree in the heart of the park that dazzles nightly every 30 minutes through eye-popping effects and classic holiday music.

·         Jack Frost’s Magical Christmas ─ Jack Frost’s evil plot to steal Christmas is reversed by the warmth and magic of the holiday season in this live stage show filled with acrobatics, illusions and surprise guests.
·         Gingerbread Junction ─ Features peppermint swirl-wrapped trees, dancing lights around the carousel pavilion, the Gumdrop Hop dance party and a giant gingerbread man towering above.
·         Joy to the World ─ Tranquil pathway of lit trees, luminaries and stained glass showcasing religious holidays from around the world.

·         North Pole ─ Guests are welcomed into the warmth of Santa’s home for a meet-and-greet and holiday photos by Kodak, plus kids can write letters to Santa, meet a reindeer and build a stuffed toy.
·         Poinsettia Peak ─ Skull Mountain roller coaster has been transformed into a mountain of dazzling red lights with a crimson beauty, the Poinsettia Princess, greeting guests nearby.
·         Treetop Summit ─ Parachute Tower transforms into one of the world’s tallest light trees.
·         Polar Point ─ Stunning, ice-blue trees twinkle with the illusion of falling snow up above, while the towering, larger-than-life Snow Queen meets guests below.
·         Storytime with Mrs. Claus ─ Kids can hear one of Santa’s favorite stories in Whimsical Wonderland.
·         Holiday Memories ─ Green, red and gold brighten this section filled with special photo opportunities like Mistletoe Moments, Wishing Tree and With Love giant greeting card, while nearby the Jingle Jammers sing holiday tunes by the fire pits as guests toast s’mores.
·         Stewie the Snowman ─ Guests can pass through a jolly, three-story inflatable in Snowman City.
There's nothing like the smell of sweet and savory tastes of the holiday season filling the air that can be found throughout the park. The holiday menu will bring a smile to your face and ill have your tummy rejoice over the Spiked egg nog, holiday-flavored coffee and hot chocolate, peppermint and mocha fudge, holiday beers, festive funnel cakes with peppermint eggnog and caramel pecan bacon toppings, specialty holiday platters of sliced turkey, smoked turkey leg and chicken platters with cranberry sauce, chili bowls, harvest salads and flatbreads and hot soups that are available in various restaurants. My mouth is watering all over again just thinking about it.
Holiday in the Park also features nearly 30 thrilling rides such as SkyScreamer, Carousel, Big Wheel and Tea Cups. Children can enjoy 11 pint-sized thrills in Whimsical Wonderland. Coaster fans can challenge world-class rides like Nitro, BATMAN™: The Ride, THE GREEN LANTERN and SUPERMAN – Ultimate Flight, THE DARK KNIGHT Coaster and Poinsettia Peak. All rides and entertainment are weather permitting. Frontier Adventures including Safari Off Road Adventure, Bugs Bunny National Park and Plaza del Carnaval will not operate during the festival.

Dove's Try Dry Spray: A Must Have During the Holidays for Busy Ladies On the Go #TryDry

#TryDry

Luckily I don't sweat profusely. Nonetheless during the busiest time of year I always make sure to have Dove's Try Dry antiperspirant spray handy in my purse or in my desk, especially if I know I'm going to be running all around town between meetings and picking up the kids.

This holiday season it seems we are all busy bees while trying to get tasks on our to do list crossed off as we run from one errand to the next.  Let's be honest - the last thing anyone wants while wedged like sardines on a NYC train or while waiting on line for hours just to see Santa is to be subjected to smelly underarms the entire time. We've been lucky to have some rather odd but enjoyably warm weather so there hasn't been too much need for the tons of layers but typically it can get a bit warm beneath all those clothes and I'd much rather be confident in knowing i'd stay fresh, dry and less likely to offend someone who might give me the side-eye after catching a whiff of  me, lol.

Last year the hubby and I learned all about Dove's Try Dry deodorant at a Unilever Launch event in NYC event and we loved it right from the start. This Fall, Sisterhued.com, a newly launched network I co-founded provided our entrepreneurial guests who are movers and shakers within the tri- state area with their own Try Dry to take home and our raffle winners enjoyed an assortment of varied scents.

So why is Try Dry a must have you ask? Ok I for one love that it's a spray. No more smears of creamy deodorant on your clothes, yepp another inconvenience that can now thankfully be avoided. As a wedding planner my outfits for the day of any wedding was either a black blouse or black dress, and I always had to remind myself to put my clothes on first so not to waste any precious time trying to wipe away any residue that accidentally rubbed off.

There have been times where  I've headed from an intense yoga session straight to a networking event and thanked the heavens I remembered to keep a bottle in the pocket of my yoga mat bag. Don't you just get annoyed when you put on deodorant and raise your arms to see that those little beads have collected? Not cute! Well with this awesome spray that comes in 6 scents and last 48 hours you'll notice and give praise that it goes on dry instantly and leaves no residue.

Have you tried Try Dry antiperspirants yet? Do you have a favorite?

Celebrating an Amazing Year of Lived in Moments with Minted Holiday Cards #HelloScout

Photo Holiday Cards

This year we are breaking tradition and spreading a little holiday cheer with Minted.com who thanks to Savvysassymoms helped us create our beautiful holiday cards. Unlike previous years our cards will actually arrive at the homes of our loved ones well before Christmas, instead of to ring in the New Year. I swear during this time of year, typically time seems to escape me and I end up ordering flat photo-cards and picking them up at our local Walgreens, so I'm beyond thrilled that everyone will get them way earlier.

With such a vast selection to choose from, I must admit I was totally overwhelmed by Minted's selection of cards that are freshly sourced from their community of independent artists and curated through competitions.

What I love about the site is that there are so many unique ways to customize your card: from the thickness of the paper to changing the color & text, or choosing 1 of 9 borders & adding additional photos - the choices are endless! You can even take your child's drawing and create a foiled version of it for your card, which is a really special touch.

Holiday Photo Cards

Luckily the hubby and I are were on the same page for the type of card we wanted this year. Not that anything's wrong with it but after playing around with layouts we were both kind of opposed to the family pics with Santa and the matchy- matchy dressed up outfits because that's usually what we do year after year.

This time we wanted something that was bit more casual & cheerful. Ultimately the design had to convey how much we enjoyed living in the moments of 2015 as a family, especially since both the hubby and I work such crazy hours and the boys and I only have two nights with him a week. There must be thousand of photos on all of our cellphones so it was nice to scroll through them to find pics to use for our card to share opposed to letting them live only on our phones until it was time to upgrade to a new one. We played around with a few designs and make sure you stop by Christmas Eve to see which design we chose.

Must Haves for Lil' Monsters: Captain McFinn's Swim and Play App.

After several trips to the aquarium over the summer, my youngest has become so fascinated with sea creatures that we recently had to purchase him a children's encyclopedia so that he could identify his favorites. Watching him puff up his cheeks to imitate a puffer fish always makes him giggle. On our walks home from school he'd even pull me into the pet store to see the turtles, mini sharks and neon fish that would leave him in awe while Id try to pry him out.

Whenever we find that a subject grab his attention we usually try to find ways to encourage his interests that will keep his curious mind engaged. Isn't it amazing when you find an app or game that makes learning so fun that the kids don't even realize the educational process that's really happening? The  Captain McFinn Swim & Play app  is geared to help preschoolers (children ages 3-5) learn social and emotional skills that they need to get along with others and to be successful in school and life – such as sharing and politeness, playing as a group, being thankful and respecting others.

Holiday Must Haves for Lil' Monsters: Delta Children's New Character Chairs #DeltaChildren #HelloScout

As a family we spend a lot of our downtime at home together in the living room, whether we're playing board games or video games, reading stories or catching up on our favorite shows. Our youngest son Tristsan has always wanted his own "little man" chair like the one he sits in at his grandparents house while visiting.

The new Delta Children's Character Club & Upholstered Chair Collection makes for a perfect affordable gifts for the holidays and all year round for your little ones. As a fan of the ever-so popular preschool show Paw Patrol, it was no surprise that Tristan was excited when his new chair arrived an he couldn't wait to try it out, especially the arm rests because he thinks that only "big boys" have chairs with armrests.

Online at Target.com you can find character Club Chairs ($29.99): Cars, Frozen, Minnie Mouse, Ninja Turtles and the Upholstered Chairs ($59.99): Frozen, Paw Patrol are available in-store only. I love that the chairs are playful and vibrant and come in a great assortment of kid-friendly characters, and not to mention the price want break the bank as you get all your holiday shopping done.

Tristan couldn't wait to pull up his chair for a front row seat to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Tristan absolutely loves his comfortable new chair because it makes him feel like it's his own special place to relax that's just for him. Somewhere he can watch the rescue hero pups from Paw Patrol save the day or where he can listen to music on his headphones without being bothersome to his older brother who might be stretched out on the couch.

We've been fans of Delta products for years now and I've even had the chance to visit their facilities where they test their products, and I know that this chair will last him quite some time. Which new character chair would be a must have for your lil' monster?

note: I received the chair as part of the Savvy Sassy Moms Product Scouts program. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
