Do More Good & Head to Good Deeds Day in NYC #GoodDeedsDay #aCAUSEforJubilation

Social Good

" Do your little bit of good where you are. It's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." ~ Desmund Tutu

So as of late I've been on a mission to share more stories of social good, empowerment and celebration of life and triumphs in hopes to not only inspire myself to do more but in hopes of motivating & enlightening my audience to dig deeper and make an impact no matter how big or small the steps. You have to start somewhere right?

This Sunday, April 10th, New Yorkers and Visitors alike will join celebrity activist Adrian Grenier {Entourage}, local and national non-profits, corporations and millions around the world in a record-setting annual day of doing good!

WHAT:  10th anniversary celebration and “Good Deeds” Fair – free and open to the public – an invitation for all New Yorkers to participate in the simple idea that every person can do a good deed and have a positive impact in their own community and around the world.  All-day entertainment, performances, speakers, and hands-on doing good activities, this cause-agnostic event will offer New Yorkers a wide range of ways to do good on.

Herald Square will be host to over 20 notable non-profits, and corporate partners Scholastic, Macy’s and KIND Snacks hosting in Good Deed activities including:
  • Adrian Grenier’s Mobile Kitchen Classroom Food Citizen Action Commitment & Photo Booth
  • A national “buy one share one” book drive and read aloud circle by Scholastic Book Fairs
  • A clothing/wipe drive for families in need with Jessica Jessica Seinfeld’s GOOD+Foundation (formerly Baby Buggy)
  • Drop off your iPod to program music for those living with Memory loss from Music and Memory
  • On site yoga organized by KIND Snacks, sample new products, and make a pledge to do a good deed during the month of April on the Vision Wall
  • Take a Selfless Selfie with UJA: each image shared on social media will earn a $5 donation to 1 of 3 causes
  • Play the Treadmill/Fit Bit activity and get healthy recipe cookbook handouts from the American Heart Association and NY Health and Racquet Club
  • Frisbee Golf toss and Summer League youth registration with Disc NY -- providing ultimate Frisbee to kids citywide
  • Entertainment from  VH1 Save the Music Foundation, Harlem Samba, Grammy nominated artists Liz Queler & Seth Farber, singer Jessica Sweetman, DJ, Producer Beco Dranoff (Red Hot and Rio), and more!

As parents, the hubby and I truly want our lil' monsters to understand the importance of giving back to their communities. We've been really blessed despite a few uncontrollable circumstances and through those moments have met such fantastic people and experienced such amazing opportunities and had the chance to try out really awesome products to share with all you & so it's important that we do more good in return. Last year the boys donated to boxes full of toys and we dropped of bags of clothing to our church that provided them to those in need at a Pan Am shelter here in Queens and can't wait to do more!

What was the last good deed you've had the chance to do? Any great organizations you are currently supporting?
