Are you Missing the Movie Theater Experience? Have you gone to A Drive-in this Year?
Going to the movies has always been a fun way to bring people together and for our multi-generational family, it's really been the easiest solution to going out in large groups like ours. We can all go sit in cushy seats in the back somewhere cuz my aunties and mom are really animated & like to laugh hard & If it's a theater with real food options even better!
Whether it was a film that made the entire theater crack up laughing, taught us an eye-opening lesson, made us ugly cry, or had a dope soundtrack for us to bounce in our seats to- movie nights have always been essential!
There's nothing like being able to enjoy an amazing visual story play out with diverse characters & phenomenal sound and costumes, on the big screen.
Naturally, in light of the current Coronavirus pandemic, movie-goers are concerned about the safety risks in returning to the theaters. Honestly, my guys and I aren't ready to head back to any just yet with me being immunocompromised. We've never been to one, but seeing a movie outdoors, under the stars at a drive-in seems like a dope alternative.
Here's the Deets:
a nationwide summer screening series featuring a wide selection of films celebrating multi-cultural voices in cinema. And in case you missed it, yes it's FREE until it ends on August 26th, 2020.
Jordan and Outlier Society selected films from Prime Video’s portfolio of content that are some of our family's favorites.
Each week the featured titles will focus on a specific theme, which includes:
Movies to make you fall in love
Movies that make you proud
Movies to inspire your inner child
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Sony Pictures)
Movies to make you open your eyes
Movies to make you laugh
If you've been on Instagram in the midst of the recent Black Lives Matter protests, you may have caught Michael B. Jordan's supportive speech:
I'm really excited about this series because it highlights some of the most culturally relevant films and classics that we still watch with our kids. What better time than now to celebrate!
“With this drive-in summer series, I hope that friends and families are able to not only enjoy, but to learn and grow,” Jordan said in a statement. “Now more than ever, amplifying Black and Brown stories means engaging culture to speak to hearts and minds about the world we live in. As we use this opportunity to reimagine community and proximity, I am excited that these films will be shared and celebrated all across the country.”So, are you going to make it a date night, hang with friends, bringing the kids? And more importantly, what are you going to see? Black Panther??? Spiderverse????
