Celebrate a New York Halloween tradition! October weekends are packed with activities, including hay mazes and hayrides, costume parades, musical theater, magic shows, and live music. Embark on a Haunted Safari to explore their B.O.O. Labs where Dr. D. Zaster is putting the final touches on Expedition Earth–his top secret experiment. Best of all, come visit with their bats, cats, and creepiest critters.And don't forget, kids in costume get in free!

Final Weekend ~ The Haunted Pumpkin Garden ~

Pumpkin sculptures of spooky scarecrows, frightening spiders, sneaky snakes, and more designed by artist Michael Natiello await discovery at every turn in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden. Youngsters play inside a ''gourd-geous'' Pumpkin House, put on a scary show at the Pumpkin Puppet Theater, have a ''hoot'' finding out what owls eat by dissecting pellets, and look for wiggly worms under a rotting log. Kids of all ages are encouraged to wear scary costumes for daily parades through the Adventure Garden.

This weekend is going to be a chilly one here in NYC with possible snow this Saturday, so why not hit the ice?
Kick off Citi Pond's seventh season of free admission ice skating at the Grand Opening Celebration, featuring live music and ice skating performances including: musical performances from Broadway's: Sister Act & Rock of Ages. Enjoy Ice skating performances from: National/World Champion Kimmie Meissner, U.S. National synchronized skating champions The Haydenettes &
Ice dance team Isabella Tobias & Deividas Sagniunas. There will also be live music from Hillside Elementary School's Drums of Thunder. Plus free skate rentals for the first 100 visitors, starting at 5:30pm.

Travel to Mexico during this 9th annual celebration honoring those who have departed. Events to look forward to are: A procession through the Village streets and blessing of the altar by the prehispanic dance group Atl Tlachinolli. Visitors of all ages can attend workshops where they will learn traditional Mexican paper crafts, bread making and poetry writing. There will also be a presentation/documentary film about human traffic victims by Cause Vision. The celebration concludes Wednesday, November 2nd with a stunning performance by Mariachi Tapatio de Alvaro Paulino. During this time, the public is invited to come share the bread and flowers and join in the clearing away of the altar.

Celebrate Halloween at the Lab and bring the family in for some hauntingly hands-on fun! Catch a monstrous movie, make some creepy crafts, and go home with gobs of ghoulish goodies! Screenings include the children’s features Elmo Says Boo, Dora The Explorer, and Go, Diego, Go. No reservations required. All activities and screenings require general admission to the Lab and are available on a first come first served basis

Saturday Oct.29th ~ Central Park Pumpkin Festival ~

Join NYC Parks for Pumpkin Festival, New York City's annual celebration of the fall harvest season in leafy Central Park! There will be lots of activities for the kids to enjoy so make sure to arrive early and I always have a few snacks handy because free, popular events in the city get crowded quick and you don't want to be waiting in lines instead of enjoying the fun. There will be live entertainment, a farmers market & arts and crafts. You can scoop up some free pumpkins, and see NY's giant pumpkin weighing in at 1,436 pounds. Save some of your energy for the Obstacle course and NY Rangers Road Tour & Slapshot Booth. Definitely a full day of fun in Central Park.

Sunday Oct. 30th ~ Hudson River Park Kidz Karnival ~

Hudson River Park’s Pier 46 transforms into “Halloween Central” with fun-filled attractions including face painting, mask decorating, wax hands, cotton candy, rides and more that will keep you in the Halloween spirit all day long. In addition to these spooktacular activities, The Story Pirates will perform Halloween-themed improv shows for children and adults of all ages throughout the day. All ages are invited. Most attractions will appeal to kids aged 2–8 years. Some activities are free and select activities will cost $2.

Sunday Oct. 30th ~ Hi-Jinks on the Highline ~
(12pm-3pm) {E} FREE. There is a fee for pumpkins picked in the patch
Families are invited to dress in costume and join Friends of the High Line for an afternoon filled with tricks and treats on the High Line. The first-ever Halloween parade on the High Line will be led by Puppet Master Ralph Lee, students from local public schools, and a giant train car puppet created by the kids, the parade will travel south toward The Porch, the new open-air café on the High Line at West 15th Street.
Following the parade, families are invited to stay at The Porch to paint faces, dance to spooky tunes, and build a spooky house with the Children’s Workyard Kit. From 12:00 - 4:00 PM, join the Fulton Youth of the Future at the first-ever pumpkin patch on the High Line. Purchase a pumpkin you pick out yourself—using your artistic talents to decorate it or just take it home to enjoy.

Ghosts through Theater Performance ~

A child-friendly theatrical performance with song and dance introduces children to mystical creatures from Japan’s folklore, such as oni, kappa and tengu, directed by Kanako Hiyama. Afterward, participants will create their own masks of the folktale characters featured in the stories. Participants are encouraged to come in costume!

Trick-or-treating while passing prehistoric dinosaur bones seems like spooky fun. Enjoy
live performances by David Grover and the Big Bear Band, and Louie and Subanda as you dance under the famous big blue whale. There will be arts and crafts and pumpkin carving. Surprise the kids with appearances from their favorite characters including Curious George, Cat in the Hat, Toot and Puddle, Danny’s Dinosaur, Big Nazo, Peter Rabbit, and more. Come in your Halloween costume!

It wouldn't be Halloween without the Village Halloween parade!! I've only gone once in my life and had our 4 year old in tow and had a great time (don't judge me, I think Halloween fell on a saturday it wasn't a school night) it's something to experience at least once. All Those in Costume are Welcome to Join Hundreds of Puppets, 53 Bands of Different Types of Music, Dancers and Artists, and Thousands of other New Yorkers in Costumes of their Own Creation in the Nation’s Most Wildly Creative Public Participatory Event in the Greatest City in the World! If you are scared of the huge crowd you can always catch it on t.v
