My mommy duties had called me away from posting yesterday as planned. Tristan had his 2nd dose of the flu shot and has been a hot mess ever since and has made the hubby and I rather cranky. Lots of spewing of yuckiness and up and down fevers from a distraught baby is never fun. Tristan was highly annoyed with the nurse who drew his blood because for some reason the blood wouldn't go down the tube and he had one prick too many! I'm hoping that some sunshine will cheer us all up, we are elated to go to Schmitt Farm tomorrow with our friends and fam. I'm extra excited to take pics of my circus tiger Tristan in a field of pumpkins, that is, if he's feeling better. Fingers crossed. Enjoy this rather nice weather here in the city , nothing like 80 degrees, a cool breeze and qt time with the people you love.

Celebrate a New York Halloween tradition! October weekends are packed with activities, including hay mazes and hayrides, costume parades, musical theater, magic shows, and live music. Embark on a Haunted Safari to explore their B.O.O. Labs where Dr. D. Zaster is putting the final touches on Expedition Earth–his top secret experiment. Best of all, come visit with their bats, cats, and creepiest critters.

Saturday Oct. 8th - Oct. 31st ~ The Haunted Pumpkin Garden ~
(Various Times) {E} Adults: $20 Students/Seniors: $18 Children 2–12: $8 Children under 2: Free
Members: Free
Pumpkin sculptures of spooky scarecrows, frightening spiders, sneaky snakes, and more designed by artist Michael Natiello await discovery at every turn in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden. Youngsters play inside a ''gourd-geous'' Pumpkin House, put on a scary show at the Pumpkin Puppet Theater, have a ''hoot'' finding out what owls eat by dissecting pellets, and look for wiggly worms under a rotting log. Kids of all ages are encouraged to wear scary costumes for daily parades through the Adventure Garden
This weekend is the Spooktacular Pumpkin Party with treats provided by Whole Foods Market.

Saturday Oct. 8th ~ Restoration Rocks Music Festival with Mos Def and the Brooklyn   Philharmonic + Idle Warship + Pharoahe Monch ~

Entering its fifth year, Restoration Rocks is a FREE day-long music concert of some of the most dynamic emerging and established artists performing on the Brooklyn stage.

Saturday Oct. 8th ~ Harlem Harvest Festival ~

During this 2nd annual Festival enjoy the Farmers Market, Wine tastings and the Taste of Harlem. On the scheduled list of events you can check out some early morning  Tai Chi,  Pumpkin Carving by Master Carver Hugh McMahon, Bikram Yoga , listen to Orquesta Majica Latina (Salsa Band) and take some Samba lessons or watch the Dance theater of Harlem. There will also be fun Children's Activities like Pumpkin Art, Face Painting, Apple Stamping and Gardening.

The little prince has traveled from planet to planet,trying to understand the mysteries of grown-ups and the stars, searching for what is most important in life. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's story becomes a captivating theatrical event with interplanetary projections and unique Bunraku puppetry.

Saturday Oct. 8th & Sunday Oct. 9th ~ International Chinese Traditional Martial Arts Competition ~  (9am-5pm) Saturday $15,Sunday $20 and 2 day pass $30
  {E} Having taken Tae Kwon do and Ju Jitsu for over 4 years as a teen and having a 6 year old son who's a huge fan of Kung Fu Panda and the Furious Five this seems like a great choice for the weekend. If you'd like to see professionals do real Kung Fu moves like praying mantis and the crane this competition is the event for you.

Sunday Oct. 9th ~ The Funkey Monkeys Broadway Spectacular ~
(11:30am or 2pm) {K/2-6} $16 children under 12 $11
The composer behind those kid popular tunes on Dora the Explorer, Joshua Citron created this band so that he could have a more face to face presence with kids while sharing his music. During the show they will perform their own creative renditions of Broadway shows like the Sound of Music and Mary Poppins.

 Sunday Oct. 9th  ~ 2nd Annual Good Food Fest ~
(11am-4pm) {E} $20-$75
Head over to Gansevoort plaza to enjoy some of the locally produced merchandise at this food fair from BLT Bar and Grill, Gramercy Tavern, Van Leewun and many more. This years fair goers with kiddies in tow can check out the newly created family program "Good Food for Kids".  The festival is FREE to enter and sample tastings range from $20 for 4 tastings to $75 for 20 tasting tickets. The proceeds from this event will benefit the FEED foundation and God's Love we Deliver.

Sunday Oct.9th ~ Brooklyn Night Bazaar ~

Oh man I can't even express how excited I am to check this evening event out with the hubby. The babysitter is all lined up (thanks sis!!) I remember seeing a feature on the Dekalb markets while watching Eyewitness News and thought it was the most genius idea ever. Dekalb Market, is housed in a collection of salvaged shipping containers, that bring together Brooklyn’s creative entrepreneurs in a community setting. There will be more than 70 artisans at the markets first nigh time event inspired by Asian market places.  Vibe to Dj spun beats and live music while quenching your thirst on beers and wine from Brooklyn Winery, Six Point, Blue Point and Ommegang and deliscious eats from several eateries including one of my faves Luke's Lobster. Another interesting site will be the human-shaped light sculpture installations by Jason Krugman . On his site he has some beautiful works up! I can't wait!!

Monday Oct. 10th-Oct. 16th ~ Spa Week ~

While many of us will have Monday off to celebrate Columbus day, there will be quite a few who won't get to enjoy the long weekend. Monday Oct.10th ~ The Columbus Day Parade ~

Go checkout this 5th Ave. parade that marks the day that Christopher Columbus landed in the Americas and celebrate the culture of the Italian-American community and their contribution to the United States. New Yorker and American Idol contestant Pia Toscano is scheduled to perform.
