"I wanna be the very best, Like no one ever was.To catch them is my real test, To train them is my cause." Lmao, I remember wanting to be a Pokemon Trainer with my own Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbosaur, and Jigglypuff - as 80's babies and 90's kids we knew we had to catch them all! Flashing back to my childhood whenever I see Pikachu, I crack up laughing because it's pretty crazy how the anime cartoon I loved watching is now an obsession with my tween and teen boys. Only they're on some next level fandom, with their toy pokeballs, Nintendo 3DS games, talking-light up plush and Pokemon cards all over our apartment floor. And now there's Detective Pikachu, a live-action moving hitting theaters on May 10th that we're all pretty hyped about.
ABOUT THE FILM:
The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City--a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world--they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.
Reimagining a classic cartoon & video game into a blockbuster movie, is no easy task, but from glimpses of the commercials we've seen so far and reviews I've read, the movie looks like it's going to electrify the box office! We're all pretty impressed with how cool all of the characters look in this video game adaptation and can't wait to see our fave characters of the Pokemon universe on the big screen. NYC fans of the franchise, we've got tickets to an early screening on Wednesday, May 8th, 2019.
