Happy Weekend! Let's LINK Up

Happy Weekend! This week wasn't bad at all, even through some flare-ups I managed to get into work everyday to be a good cheering section for my 3rd graders during their state math exams. I will miss them but I'm glad the semester is almost over. Our plans for this weekend are a bit lengthy and hopefully we can get  a few things done. I'd like to go to the Museum of Natural History for their Creatures of Light: Nature's Bioluminescence  exhibit that recently opened. Saturday kicks off the grand opening weekend of Hester Street Fair on the Lower East Side and I want to check out the vendors and get some tasty treats.  Saturday afternoon we have a friends 30th birthday picnic {hopefully the weather heats up a bit, I joke I've never worn a scarf or coat to a picnic} and Sunday is a free for all. What do you have planned this weekend? Well I hope you enjoy it and thanks for LINKing  Up with me. Be sure to follow Dellah's Jubilation on Facebook to get all the happenings {there are quite a few this weekend} and deals in NYC!

Access to nearly 1 million old NYC photos, pretty dang cool!

How can you resist celebrating Cinco De Mayo with these treats!

The top 20 nail polish colors for your wedding day.

A mini dress with LED technology , perfect for your next dance party!

Ellen DeGeneres signs on for the audio book version of 50 Shades of Grey, I loved it for her sound effects. Great laughs!

I am so diggin' this Hopes and Dreams light sculpture, it's beautiful!

I have started a modest collection of fedora's {two of my faves I'm photographed wearing, are on the blog's home page} & this one is a must have for summer.
.
A vintage emporium of great stuff to change up your home decor!

I'd love for my two lil boys to make me breakfast in bed on Mothers Day using this trio and I think this would make the perfect gift.

If they did a remake of Charlotte's web it should be on a farm like this.

It must be this city life and limited space that has me dreaming of vertical gardening.

How Well Do You Know Your Neighbors?

Growing up as I kid, all the families that lived on my floor in our apartment complex knew each other very well, practically like family. The parents would stop and say hello in the hallways to catch up on what was happening in their lives. There where four families on our floor with kids and we all went to each other's birthday parties and hung out at each others houses, throwing water balloons off our terraces. We always  hung out at the park with each other after-school and simply enjoyed being kids. .Each of our parents watched each others kids when they needed to make a quick run to play numbers, go to the bank or grab milk and wanted to avoid getting us dressed just to trudge through a NYC snow storm. Our building was one of several in the huge block community and every summer the neighborhood families participated in Family Day where there were cookouts, basketball games, talent and fashion shows, Dj'd music and good times. Everyone new everyone and although it may not have always been a good thing, there was a sense of community, that I always thought was nice.

Raising our own two children now, the Hubby and I are glad that we have found a handful of neighbors that have become great friends that we spend time with when we can. We make play-dates for our kids and the moms schedule gym meet-ups {because working out alone is never fun}. In the past we've had potluck dinners at a different neighbor's home every Wednesday night {I, shamefully never cooked, but sure loved to eat}. We've entrusted our neighbors to take our oldest son in case of an emergency {me going into the hospital for a Crohns flare-up} to school and doggy-sit for our Jack Russell Sonic or to pick up our mail while we were out of town. Don't get me wrong not every neighbor is friendly, there are few who pass us in the halls and don't so much as look up at us in the hallways, let alone say a mouthed hello, and that's OK. There are all sorts of neighbors, those that you adore and they're very helpful {whether helping you with your laundry cart , or sharing words of wisdom}, the couple who's always arguing so loudly, and then are making up even louder! Then there are the one who are down right nasty, some who are extremely nosy and asks tons of questions, and some you just really don't care to know. For some reason this post all of a sudden made me think of some of my favorite Television neighbors, that always gave me a good laugh and take me down memory lane:

Whether it's in apartment complex or in a more Suburban neighborhood, do you know your neighbors by name? Do you have get togethers? or do you mostly keep to yourself? I know I left quite a few out, but do you have a favorite T.V show with a set of lovable neighbors?

Elated with Etsy: The Upcycled Mason Jar

This seems like such an easy way to bring a splash of color to any room with a series of mason jars hand painted and used to showcase your beautiful blooms.

I freakin' love these beautiful and simple mason jar candle holders. I think they'd make a beautiful touch to a tiny city terrace, backyard or as a focal point of any soiree.

This idea would also be great if you used soil in the mason jars for an herb garden or potted flowers, hung to save space.

An Industrial chandelier is definitely a statement piece for any home or boutique.

I would've never thought to re-purpose a mason jar into a soap dispenser but these are very charming pieces of decor.

I hope these Etsy shop's wonderful ideas for creating something new with mason jars have inspired you to imagine up something fabulous for your space to make on your own or maybe you'll just go the easy route and shop for one of these like me {haha}.

Happy DIY'ing or Shopping!

A Cause for Jubilation: Seeking Exhilarating Adventures

When Was the Last Time You Did Something for the First Time?

I put this one up for fun because I've never been brave enough to jump off a swing.

There really is never a dull moment in my life, hardly do I ever exclaim that I'm bored. The boys and I are always looking to explore places we haven't been to and rediscovering old gems, we love to meet new people and try new culinary treats and stuff. Even with so much to do here in New York I don't feel like I've ever really been on an adventure or have done anything really exhilarating or refreshingly new.

Riding the roller coasters at Great Adventures is easy breezy for me so I'd have to say the closest moments I've gotten to an adrenaline driven high was go kart racing @ Grand Prix NYC last year in one of those "death machines" that go 40mph,{it had me so messed up I could barely stand straight and lost a shoe} and an anxiety filled sail on a catamaran on the island of Turks & Caicos {over a decade ago} that freaked me out so bad I cried and giggled as the guide joked about pushing me over. Considering I don't have a drivers license {I've never been on a simple amusement bumper car} and I don't know how to swim {It took me until my twenty's to get over water hitting my face in the shower} these were things I got to cross of my bucket list and have no desire to do again.

It seems on a few occasions I've been right where the action was but never got to partake in the thrill of the moment for myself. I chickened out on cliff diving on our honeymoon in Mexico, the line was too long for zip-lining in Las Vegas and the one day we went to scope out the hot air balloons in Arizona it was surprisingly too cloudy and we couldn't spot any afloat. I am determined to check another thrilling activity off my list and I'll be sure to share when I finally take one on.

Have there been any recent adventures you've gone on? Do you have big plans for a bold undertaking in the future?

Happy Adventure seeking!

Fabulous Fête: The Perfect Birthday Picnic

One of my fabulous, dearest friends Venesa is celebrating her 30th birthday with a fun picnic party with her closest loved ones. I love that picnics can be a laid back affair, and personally I always feel most like myself in something I can literally throw on that's chic, comfortable and effortless. With two boys it can sometimes feel like a daunting task trying to get all dolled up while dodging applesauce on their fingers and ketchup on their lips. I thought these two options of coral and mint pieces made for a great spring/summer ensemble for any occasion.

Sheep Meadow in Central Park {source}

Central park makes the perfect backdrop for this soiree and I'm sure we'll get tons of great pics! As of right now the weather forecast is calling for rain, but I thought I'd share some great picnic planning ideas in case those rain clouds should pass and for your future outdoor events, like Memorial Day which is right around the corner {which also means Summer Fun}.

Outdoor parties are sort of tricky spaces to decorate, yet if kept simple you will be pleased with the end result. There are a handful of creative ways to fill your designated party space: paper lanterns, pom - poms, streamers or balloons are great choices to make the area more festive.

It's essential to have something to sit on in case the party is chosen in an area with limited park benches or if the host only provides a few chairs. So a comfy folding chair, towel or blanket preferably with a waterproof back like the Anorak ones pictured below is key. Although they aren't waterproof the Target  Zip and Carry line has bold, fun, solid and print blankets at a very affordable price and are machine washable.

No picnic is complete without an assortment of tasty foods and delicious drinks and treats. Here's a few links for some picnic menu ideas:

Outdoor party menus from Everyday with Rachel Ray.

With hopefully an abundance of warm weather days ahead of us, I hope you get to enjoy a picnic every now and again even if it's just to celebrate living in the moment.

Happy Weekend! Let's LINK UP

Happy Earth Day Weekend! Are you just as thrilled as I am that it's the weekend?  I have plans to meet up with my gal pal Tacha to get some photos and meet some new folks for an upcoming project I'm working on, as long as the weather is in our favor. In the past the boys and I have gone to the Earth day events in and outside of Grand Central terminal so maybe we'll pop by there. It's another weekend of grandiose ideas of things to do, with so little time. A part of me just wants to stay home with my nook and my boys, but those days of hibernating are a thing of the past. What's on your agenda for the next few days? Well I'm glad you made time to squeeze in a few of my fave links this week...enjoy!

This photo above is a great example of why I don't let the kids put stickers on the stuff in the house, this is just a bit carried away, but an awesome splash of color nonetheless.

Sweet wedding favors that will bring back a bit of nostalgia.

I'm a believer that there's no such thing as too much print in one space, let alone a whole house.

I've fallen in love with these Art Deco earrings.

CJ is a big fan of pirates, ninjas and checkers so I'm figuring this would make a great gift.

30 Things Ever Woman Should Have and Should Know by the Age of 30, thanks Glamour. I'm a few months too late, but I guess better late than never.

I'm obsessed with ladybugs, too bad I don't have a garden.

Over the Rainbow. Enjoy these pics!

If you live in or are visiting NYC this weekend, here's a list of  the Earth Day Events I mentioned at Grand Central Terminal.

I love all my bff's but we've never shared a moment {like this one in my new fave show} where we've need to "Protect the Aereolas".

When my bestie Liza left NYC 3 years ago for AZ, she always says one of the things she misses most is a good Bacon, Egg + cheese on a roll. There's nothing like a good breakfast sandwich.

If I had a houseboat, this would be the one I'd want, saw it on A Cup of Jo.

Thanks for LINKing Up,

Fashion Frenzy: CROP by David Peck

In honor of Earth Day I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite pieces from an absolutely gorgeous and eco-chic clothing line, CROP by David Peck. Vibrant, Fun, Classic and Eclectic prints sum up a lot of the pieces that are certified organic and made from natural fabrics in the CROP line. The collections name is short for Creative Opportunity and David Peck {who's a favorite of Taylor Swift and Lauren Conrad}  launched the line so that he could collaborate and network with other creative professionals to develop projects that not only inspire them but give back; for every season a charity is chosen to donate 10% of the profits to.

Follow the link and check out the entire CROP collection. Which piece from the SS2012 collection is your fave?

Elated With Etsy: Eco - Friendly Snack Bags by Bleu Roo

Our oldest son CJ is such a picky eater I try to make sure I have an alternative snack packed for him daily. I can't stand how many Ziploc bags we end up wasting. I ask him often not to throw away the ones that had dry snacks in them but everyday his snack bag comes back empty {unless of course it's a day I send strawberries or oranges, then there's a juicy mess all over}.

To solve this wasteful problem and save some money I've been searching Etsy for reusable snack bags and these handmade, embroidered ones by Bleu Roo are by far one of my favorites. Not only are they cute and fun in design for my kid they are simple enough for my own use {they can even be personalized}. I'm all for anything that"ll save us a few bucks, look great and are good for the planet.

Oh Snaps! A Peek at My Week on Instagram {#1} Our Trip to Arizona 4.8.12

Like most people with an Iphone I have become addicted to something as time consuming as Facebook, never did I think that was even possible. Instagram is a great way to share your creative eye view on life with friends, family and complete strangers. I love that you can change filters and edit to your liking, I think this App has created a new breed of image/photo obsessed people who think they are all professional photographers, but I love it anyway!

Here's a peek at my first week on Instagram:

1.

{1 & 2} I felt sort of silly for worrying about whether Tristan would be a complete monster on our flight and packed my version of the Mary Poppins bag of tricks. Luckily for us he took a nap for the first hour in the air and everyone complimented us on how well behaved he was {during the evening flight back he wasn't so pleasant because he was over tired and constipated, so there was lots of tears and screams and I got stared down from in between the seats by a woman in front of us who must have been trying to sleep}. When he woke up he loved climbing over his brother to take peeks at the view and saying "Wow" I was just pleased he was entertained.

2.

{3 - 6.} Beautiful candlelit church atop red rocks in Sedona, Arizona and the Hummingbird that flew by us.
3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

Gorgeous heart shaped Amethyst {my birthstone} spotted while perusing Sedona shops.

8.

We surely ate well during our stay in AZ I devoured these Chilean Sea Bass tacos.

9.

Stores in Sedona were all set to celebrate Easter.

10.

My musician CJ playing some tunes.

11.

Rocking mischievous mustaches with the kids.

12.

With such gorgeous, serene scenic views of Sedona's Red Rocks, life at that moment sure did feel good!

13.

I hope you enjoyed a few photos of our trip. Please feel free to follow me on Instagram @dellahsjubilation for more snaps!
