Families can escape cabin fever and head to this educational center for a day of hands on fun, deeper thinking and exploration. With kids out of school for the holidays I couldn't think of a better place to visit and my guys couldn't wait to check out the new International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes and Doc McStuffin.

Grab Your Tickets to NYC Screening of "Second Act" Starring Jennifer Lopez

SECOND ACT is a heartfelt comedy that will inspire audiences to believe that it’s never too late to create the life you want. Jennifer Lopez returns to the big screen in an empowering, signature role that proves your dreams are always within reach regardless of your age, background or zipcode.

I’m such a fan of J Lo and the relatably funny characters she’s portrayed over the years, and in her role as born and raised Queens girl Maya Vargas, she’s hoping that her 43rd birthday wish for a promotion comes true.

Lil' Monsters Meet Up Under the Sea for "The Rainbow Fish" at Symphony Space

Disclosure: We were provided with tickets to host our group and to facilitate this review. Opinions expressed are 100% our own.
One of our biggest peeves when the weekends roll around is hearing our boys mumble the words "I'm bored" while sitting in their room filled with all the latest toys and books. Leave it to them and they'll binge rounds of fortnite and claim they can't leave the game, abruptly. Anyone else's kids go running to the bathroom or for snacks once they come up for air?
With colder weather looming we refuse to let the boys stay chained to their gadgets and gizmos and will try to avoid the blah's of cabin fever setting in with a balance of screentime and unplugged fun.
We’re so excited to have FINALLY launched what we hope to be the first of many successful Lil Monster Meet Ups which will be events mostly geared towards tweens and teens with a focus on unplugged mindful play, wellness and entertainment.
To celebrate Tristan's birthday we hosted our family, friends and blogger buddies at Symphony Space for Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia’s  “The Rainbow Fish”. A NYC premier of a thrilling and colorful glow-in-the-dark puppetry adaptation of a children’s classic tale being highlighted in Symphony Space's "Just Kidding Series"

Disclosure: Thank you Carnival Cruise & Permission to Hustle for hosting our group during such a mindful & inspirational retreat. Vera and Audrey, this was amazing! Xx

"Before your Life Shifts........... It's Going to Fall Apart First"

HUSTLE:

It’s just insane how quickly days fly by and even more noticeable when you realize you haven’t been devoting as much time as you’d like to your own personal growth and passions. Lately, I'd been pretty disappointed in myself and I knew I needed to shake things up ASAP, I needed to be doing more!

Two months ago I was setting off to join 40 female creatives and entrepreneurs at sea with Carnival Cruise Line for the Permission to Hustle retreat, hosted by Vera Sweeney of Lady and the Blog and Audrey McLelland of Mom Generations. When these two dynamic mompreneurs, content creators and besties announced that they were planning to get back to the roots and magic of blogging I couldn't wait to get the scoop on what it entailed and how to sign up.

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own films—everyone but the Teen Titans, that is!  But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick.  If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them.  With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, determined to make their dreams of movie stardom come true. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously Super-Villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. AILEY EXTENSION BRINGS DANCE TO KIDS AND TEENS WITH SUMMER WORKSHOPS & WEEKLY CLASSES

Photo: Horton with Karen Arceneaux at Ailey Experience NYC. Photo by Kyle Forman

Our summers are usually a mix of outdoor sports with the City Parks Foundation, trips to the local zoos and museums and visits to some of the city's coolest & affordable drop in classes. Ultimately my goal for our boys is to try avoid summer brain drain & balance screen time while juggling being a work at home parent so we're always on the lookout for the latest happenings across the five boroughs. This summer, Ailey Extension is offering a variety of unique dance programs for young, aspiring dancers. With one or two-week performance intensives and weekly training classes taught by New York City’s premiere choreographers and instructors, kids and teens can enjoy developing technique, enhancing musicality, and releasing creative expression. All classes take place at The Joan Weill Center for Dance – home of the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, and The Ailey School.

End the Summer Snack Time Struggle with Jif Power Ups

It never fails! Once the kids start summer break us parents know dang well that the one line we'll hear on repeat over and over is "I'm hungry can I have snack?"They don't even care that they just had a fully loaded, protein filled breakfast unlike most school mornings where you toss them a banana and a bagel as you all rush your way out the door. These lil' monsters are un-phased by what time of day it is, or how much time has passed since they last asked for something to eat. They seem to want to munch on goodies non-stop, and god forbid you run out of their favorites! The snack time struggle during summer break can be really funny at times, so to introduce the launch of their new Power Ups chewy bars and creamy clusters Jif invited a few of us parents our for a night of laughs at Caroline's comedy club with funny dad and actor Neil Patrick Harris.

11 Top Tech Products to Take on Your Summer Adventures #CTATravel

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post by Techlicious and the Consumer Technology Association. Opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Can you believe we're already half way through June? I'm not sure where the time went exactly but the official start to Summer is just a few days away and NYC kids will officially be out of school next week, which means we're counting down to a few weekend trips and two family reunions. This month I co-hosted a travel themed lunch and learn at midtown restaurant Quality Italian, alongside Suzannne and Josh of Techlicious on behalf of CES and the Consumer Technology Association. NYC local influencers in attendance were invited to learn all about the latest and greatest tech products to take with them on their summer adventures. Bloggers and Editors were able to get hands on with the best gadgets to keep their families entertained and gained insight on tech safety tips and on how to use technology to make the most of their trip. We all know life's just that much easier and enjoyable with a few tech essentials to kill time, especially during travel time, we have a few layovers coming up so the hubby and I were eager to discover some new finds.

Acrimony Starring Taraji P. Henson Movie Ticket Giveaway #Acrimony

Film story lines with the suave, philandering husband, some gorgeous side chick and the jilted, enraged wife are pretty common. When you add to the mix Tyler Perry's gift for depicting the stories and issues that families of color deal with on a daily (in a way that makes you feel them, laugh hard with them, cry harder with them) and then mix in Taraji P. Henson's talent for serving bad-ass gritty, realness -  of course we want see what their new project Acrimony is going to bring to theaters that we haven't already seen before. We're even more excited for this film because my parent's childhood friend and my husband's cousin Denise is in the film as the Psychiatrist who you'll hear talking to Taraji in the preview below! Denise was also Taraji's dialect coach for Hidden Figures, which was another FANTASTIC movie {her role as the brilliant Katherine Johnson has been my fave} that proves how dynamic Taraji is as an actress.

Channeling Spring: Mazda Joyrides and Floral Bomber Jackets #ExploreMazda #MazdaLatino

Sometimes you’ve gotta learn to just laugh at ya self! I am the furthest example of what a true fashion blogger looks like and my hubby probably has a better eye for what looks good on me. He is literally my stylist and shopping buddy, he never complains! I try not to take myself too seriously when it comes to style because comfort is key in my opinion. I’m short & bow legged, wear minimal to no make up and can’t stand posing for cameras. Last weekend I joined a few local bloggers for a brunch hosted by Mazda, DiMe Media and DriveShop at the beautiful New Leaf restaurant up by the Cloisters.

I swear All of this bipolar weather - 70 degrees and sunny one day, arctic chills and chunky snowflakes the next, has had me clueless on what to wear these days. It's been a while since I've been out, the Flu and all kinds of cooties have had me and the youngest out of sorts these last few weeks and cabin fever has definitely taken it's toll on all of us. Weekend brunch with some of my fave mama's and driving around in the newest Mazda rides were the perfect cure. Plus I caught a bit of nostalgia because the New Leaf hosted the last wedding I coordinated before moving on to coordinating media/ consumer events and it was a great reminder of doing what I love alongside my blogging tribe.

Sesame Street Live! Let's Party! Madison Square Garden Discounted Ticket Offer

Disclosure: Opinions expressed are 100% our own, we have partnered with MSG to receive media tickets to the show.

Having raised both of our boys on Sesame Street, with them now being in 2nd grade and middle school it's so fun to have a our toddler nephew Baby Q in the house to tune into our favorite educational program to jump start our mornings. I'm a little biased, because Elmo and I share a birthday but seeing all of the fun loving characters like Cookie Monster and Abby come to life on stage is going to be such a fun experience for him because he loves to sing and show off his dance moves while learning.

This February, families can jump to the beat with their friendly furry friends on Sesame Street! Introducing an all-new, interactive show that unfolds on one of the world’s most famous streets at the funniest party in the neighborhood… get ready for Sesame Street Live! Let’s Party!

Owning Our Glow: Spiritually Cleansing Our Home as a Family for the New Year

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links for which I may receive a small commission for any purchases made. This is not a sponsored post and Opinions expressed are 100% our own

Tackling all the laundry before the New Year just wasn't going to happen but for the three full bags of linens and clothes that did get washed, we managed to fold and put them away. Moving all the bins down to storage wasn't accomplished either but we successfully purged our closets, donated items from every room and started to re-organize drawers, shelves and cabinets. What I did not want was to stress cleaning the house top to bottom before the start of the year, we took care of what we could and enjoyed our time playing tourists in the city with out-of-town family from the West coast. One thing we knew was an absolute must do for the start of 2018 was to cleanse our home spiritually by Smudging as a family for the first time. It had been a purification process that quite a few people had recommended to us & I thought it would be perfect to use wellness & lifestyle expert and author Latham Thomas's new book "Own Your Glow" as a guide.
